For many years, I lived in Amstelveen, and in the late 1990s, I was commissioned to design an artwork for the then new Westwijk neighborhood. A timeless design: three monks are engrossed in their books, seemingly oblivious to their surroundings. The artwork makes the viewer wonder if the monks were here before the neighborhood was built. A moment of reflection. A place where you can find peace amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. “Silent Grow” consists of a triangle of thoughtful monks, placed in the shade of the trees.
