Sculpture Aïsja

on August 12, 2020

A sculpture developed and executed for a large redesigned garden. The sculpture had to perfectly match the renovated bungalow in New Objectivity-style. The accuracy of the commissioned situation refers to the Mies van der Rohe pavilion in Barcelone with its sculpture ‘Morgen’ by the sculptor Kolbe. A cloud of hundreds of butterflies together form an elegant female body, that almost seems to glide over the lawn. The butterflies are out of bronze. The title Aïsja refers to a story by Salman Rushdie about the natural phenomenon of the alluring butterflies. Private commission, bronze, life size, 2007, Province of Groningen, NL
